This will be short, simply the will literally EAT your memory, more and more fight you do. it's not so difficult, but if you don't like to do it, just download one of the many layouts, the one you like more, and stick with that. The bad part is that there are NO ingame options. also, it looks better than any other addons, since you can customize every little aspect of you unit frames, position and formatting of texts (name, level, health.) and so on. it does support pretty everything on your screen (player, target, ToT, focus, party, raid) and with this you can manage also other things like debuff highlighting, aggro meter, castbars, and so on. The best addon anyway, regarding memory used, is oUF.

anyway it lets you to do things that other UF addons won't let you do (like vertical bars for instance). Pitbull is the most customizable of the three, for a decent amount of memory used, but it is a little complex to configure.

you can disable them, but still this addon uses a lot of memory, and graphically is not customizable apart from changing bar textures and some colors.ĪG_UnitFrames is pretty cool, lightweight, but it has not so much customization options too, and is a little bugged sometimes (i have yet to discover why, but for me is bugged). X-Perl is very user-friendly and easy to configure, but still it looks noobish (lol) and lots of the plugins are memory-eaters. the most used are X-Perl, AG_UnitFrames, and Pitbull. The love and hate of all UI, and the first thing one will see. re-enable them if you need to change something again (but most of the times the options via chat frame are still available).

in this case, configure the addon and, when you're satisfied, disable them.

if it's the latter, you can disable the plugins you don't need.Īlso, sometimes the ingame options of the addon are made as a plugin. seriously, you don't need both.Īfter this, check if your addons are a "monolith" (a single folder with all inside) or are "modular" (one folder for the base addon, then others for options, or other plugins). if this is the case, disable one of the two. more you use, more memory will be used and there is nothing to do about it.įirst of all, to reduce the amount of memory used, you need to choose between your addon and check if some of them provide redundant information (like using both IceHUD and X-Perl together, or 2 addons that track the same cooldowns). So i thought about it and decided to write this post about my personal experience.ĭisclaimer: this is NOT the place to ask "how i configure this addon?", is just a collection of tips/suggestions i got from the WoW community and decided to share them with all of you. After i released my UI (not a great work but im proud of it) many people started giving me feedback and tips, and many other were so WTF? about the low memory usage of my compilation.
